The company and the concept began like many revolutionary products do — as a simple idea. Husband/wife duo and Crypton founders Craig and Randy Rubin set out to create a fabric that was stain, moisture, and bacteria resistant, yet soft and breathable. There was nothing in the marketplace that suited those needs, just sticky vinyls and treated fabrics which were hot, rough, and unpleasant to live with. Armed with decades of knowledge in the textile industry, they set to work to find a solution and, in turn, started a textile revolution.

In 1993, together, in the basement of their Michigan home, along with advice and assistance from researchers, chemists, and textile engineers, the Rubins developed Crypton Super Fabric, protected it by multiple global patents, and set out to introduce this Crypton to the world.
The first market to embrace Crypton was health care. It then soon took off in the hospitality
and contract industries — anywhere where stain, spill, and odor-resistant fabrics were needed. Today, Crypton Super Fabric is installed in some of the world's finest restaurants, hotels, and cruise ships, as well as in government complexes, schools, and heath care facilities around the world.
